Dr. Jim Miller

Jim Miller holds degrees from McGill, Glasgow, and Drew Universities. His doctoral work was in the area of adult Christian education; his master's was in Islamic Studies, while his theology degree (following a bachelor's in philosophy and literature) specialized in Old Testament and Rabbinic theology. Throughout his career, which has spanned nearly four decades, Jim has gained a reputation as a gifted, energetic, and devoted teacher. He has long been in demand as a speaker and course leader, and has taught at Denver Seminary and McGill University. He currently lectures at Ferris State University's Kendall College.

In late 2008 he founded Hope Lens in order to offer, through the internet, adult education opportunities to congregations and sermon ideas to busy preachers.

Jim and his wife Karen are the proud parents of four children and children in-law, and doting grandparents of ten perfect grandchildren. They are both avid readers, and they enjoy music, literature, and films. They live in the Midwest, in their little house in the woods, where Jim pursues his love of golfing, sailing, hockey, and football. Karen is an avid non-golfer, will sail, tolerates hockey, and loves football! She also knits, writes, and plays the piano (though not in public!).

About Hope Lens

Welcome to Hope Lens where we are dedicated to bringing hope to life.

In our despairing and increasingly worried world, for our uncertain and seeking faith communities, we bring hope into focus by informing, inspiring, and encouraging.

The high ground of certainty for personal and community faith is hope. Hope Lens will get you there.

Our program is structured into courses which can be experienced as either a series of classes or in a workshop/retreat setting. A few courses are single week and others multi-week in length. The courses are all playable on TV with a DVD player or on a computer's DVD drive. Each class runs between 20 and 30 minutes, to meet the timing of a typical Sunday school class. They are available to purchase as DVDs from this site. Also Dr. Jim Miller can come to you and teach in person, or speak at your special event.
